a great poet of 60s and 70s. But alas! Today’s critics have been
ignoring him. However, he was held in high esteem by his contemporaries,

Ahmad Ali Barqi Azmiis one of best poets of Urdu of 20th and 21stcenturies. He has paid poetic tribute to Dr. Saleem Wahid Saleem’s book “Khayyam-e-Nau”.Dr Saleem Wahid Saleem was a great poet. One of his works includes “Khayyam-e-Nau”, which is free translation Khayyam’s ruba’is. His kulliyat will be printed soon. It may be mentioned that Ahmad Ali Barqi Azmi is one of best poets of Urdu of 20th and 21st centuries. He has composed over 1500 ghazals and nazms Barqi Azmi has vast knowledge, experience, observation, imagination and has good command over Urdu, Persian (He is a Persian broadcaster with All India Radio’s Persian Service headquartered at New Delhi) and other languages.
